It increasingly looks like the jury is in on the man-made global warming debate. Take this recent short speech by Kennedy, a call to arms effectively ...

There's a lot of solutions bandied about but my question is, and I don't mind the answers getting a bit technical - there's nothing you can't look up, but my question is, what do people think we should do about it?

different people think different things.

I think we [can and] should do nothing, but I'm willing to compromise and build more nuclear power plants.

What does this have to do with conspiracy theories?

Well its like 911 being an inside job.
It's been claimed that its a conspiracy theory, same with man-made global warming.

Are you saying man-made global warming isn't a conspiracy theory?
If so I appreciate the honesty, but this is still the best place for the thread.

Nothing? You think severe climate change is inevitable, so we shouldn't try, or that it won't happen at all?

I'm interested in how 'truthers' manage to spin this issue to still seem like a conspiracy by the PTB, even though those PTB were in denial until recently that global temperatures were even rising, let alone that it was the fault of CO2 emissions.

What makes a theory which is patently at odds with -

1. The plan to control mid-east oil supplies

2. The best interests of the fossil fuel industries

3. Scorn for the tofu eating hippy environmentalists

- somehow believable as a devious plot by the NWO?

Who are the claimed conspirators?

No, I think that the climate is currently warming and there is nothing we can do about it. The cause of the warming may or may not be partially due to man's contribution to CO2. In case it is, the best thing we can do is build lots and lots of nuclear power plants. That really won't help either but at least we won't be burning nasty coal.

Is there seriously a prominent conspiracy theory about this? What the heck is it?

There are two actually.

One by some opponents is that the proponents are making it up to promote their own agenda.

The other by some proponents is that opponents are arguing against to to promote their own agenda.

He just wants to start his own debate.

It's a continuing debate Rob.
There will be new threads from time to time.

But to be honest I'm not debating it, man-made global warming just 'is'.

What's the view on this Carbon Tax, lot of bull**** floating around that its a NWO scam to control the masses, when all I see is it hitting big business in the wallet.

I see it as something painful but probably necessary.

Maybe it 'just is' a little or maybe it 'just is' a lot but attempts to stop it will be futile, regardless. And a hit on the wallet of "big business" is a hit to everyone invested in it, either directly or indirectly....yourself included, most likely.

And what will you gain?

not a thing.

With all due respect, tofu-eating hippy environmentalists also said to compost garbage, and build landfills that breathed so they could decompose, and passed laws to ban yard waste from landfills (under the innumerate concept that we're running out of landfill area, but, damn, big scary trash piles sure gets your guys elected.)

This is the opposite of carbon sequestration.

And, quite frankly, I still don't know if I want people trying to reverse any global warming. Introducing a new ice age would kill billions very rapidly. You could make the problem magnitudes worse, very easily, if you goof. Given no one's done it before, the likelihood of goofs is very high.

Since the scientific research seems to indicate we are creating it, then we most certainly can do something about it.

"Unintended consequences"? We are already going full steam ahead with unintended consequences. Some of us are just trying to take some control of our lives, instead of just saying there is nothing we can do. The ice age won't be here for a while yet, the sun is stable, as are the Milankovich cycles.
