Man claims to see auras

Point out to him that if he can actually see these auras (and they're not a form of synesthesia or whatever the condition is called), that he can get a million bucks from Randi (the challenge is still open). Assure him that this is not some parlour trick, but would be helpful in finding out what it is he's actually seeing.

His explanation of having a slightly wider range of photoreception doesn't match what he's described- if his explanation were correct, he'd simply see a wider range of colours than auras around other objects.

Suggest a controlled test for his "abilitY" which apparently stretches to seeing EM fields of objects.

Take a toaster (which he claims he can see the aura around), turn it on its side so that he can't see the filaments. Turn it on. Plug it into an extension cord, which is plugged into a power bar in another room. Turn the power bar on and off and see if he can tell if power is flowing by its aura.

The toaster was his idea- you might find a better electrical device with no visible output.

Hmm can't be bothered to register for their forum, but I'd be interested to know whether he can see these "auras" through glass or another transparent substance. I like the idea of the toaster experiment, or even more extreme if there were a way to get him blindfold in a pitch black environment then remove the blindfold and say whether there is an object there or not, assuming he doesn't need visible light in order to see the EM.

I see Auras, too.

It seems not a day goes by that I see at least one Aura. I could be out driving and see many Auras. Auras might appear as Deep Blue, Ocean Mist, or Cream White, but I’ve seen Auras in other colors, too. I believe most people pick the color of their Aura.

I have a friend who drives an Aura. Auras are manufactured in Kansas City, Kansas, in the United States. They are made under the Saturn brand by American automaker General Motors (GM). It’s a popular mid-size sedan. The Saturn Aura won the 2007 North American Car of the Year award.

Another friend of mine sees a lot of Auras when he’s at work. They constantly appear, and disappear, Aura after Aura. That’s because he’s a Service Director at a couple Saturn dealerships.

Is this what you mean by seeing Auras, Biffo the Ghostly Bear?

While I might be inclined to believe your “retinas are quite fine” as you stated in one of your Digital Spy Forum posts, I am skeptical that your eyes see EM (electromagnetic) fields. I’m not a medical doctor, but if you really see EM fields via paranormal powers, it is my understanding that you would be the first. So Biffo the Ghostly Bear, why don’t you apply for the Million $ Challenge? If you prove your claim, you will win the money, and could buy an Aura. Then you can drive around, wave, and people will see your very own, bona fide, Saturn Aura.
