Science breakthrough. The transplant of an entire genome. It sounds like they have a production technique... it only worked 1 out of 150,000 tries. That doesn't sound like one scientist at a microscope changing 1 bacterium at a time.

It promises a new tomorrow... manufactured life... injectable DNA for any purpose from biofuel to biowarfare.

Great stuff. The potential is amazing.

This ought to bring out the fundies in droves. :D

I love the term 'playing god'...It will be interesting to see how they try to get politicians to stop this science....

On another front, scientists are doing a brute force simulation of a mouse-sized brain, complete with 10 million neurons and 128 billion connections or some such. On their big IBM iron, they can get it to run at about 6 seconds per 1 second of real-world "thought".

I doubt it's programmed in any sort of mousey way though. Just running the mechanics of a super-gigantic neural network.
