Major 2nd Amendment Victory in Alaska

Alaksa has just passed a bill awaiting signature by the governor that makes it legal to carry firearms without a permit.

Since most states have allowed radical leftist attacks and fear-mongering about guns, this move by Alaska is a refreshing breath of freedom. That law needs to be emplaced nation-wide because that is the spirit of the 2nd Amendment.

Somewhere along the way the states that demanded permits forgot what being an American was all about. But that is the nature of radical leftism.

I agree, I should be able to drive a car from New York to LA with a loaded weapon in my car. Sadly, the anti-gun nuts and the ACLU are too busy wiping their asses with the constitution to care about the real infringements of freedom.

I don't agree. While "bearing arms" is a guaranteed right, the purpose of the right is so that civillians can take up arms if necessary. Nowadays we have the numbers and data to prove that firearm education reduces the chance of accidental discharges.

Simply put, gun carry licenses usually require you take a firearm safety class. I don't think you are any good to a impromptu militia with a modern a handgun if you are likely to injure yourself or your fellow fighter.

I can see how this would make sense in Alaska. You have people living in the far north who pack "trail guns" and such. They usually don't live near a place where it is easy to take a firearm class or get a permit.

Alaska has one of the highest per capita gun deaths in the country. Im not sure why. Must be all the suicides.

It's interesting to note that ultimately, this government's Anti-terrorism statutes are the most anti-gun legislation yet created, at least in some regards.

I guess, then, the ACLU is a 'W' lacky?

In what regards would those be?

Yeah, and permits don't usually impress timber wolves all that much =)

Yep. In the year 2000 there were 116 deaths, 96 of which were suicides.
