This claim came in yesterday.
==============================================
I, M. Leuthold hereby make claim that I can detect exactly which of a series of coins or any other object of similar size is hidden in a paper bag, box, metal can, plastic container or otherwise concealed from direct view as deternmined by the examiners, provided I be allowed to hold in my hand a duplicate of each of the agreed-upon items to be hidden.

The only devices I shall employ will be a three-yard length of uninsulated #10 copper wire and a three inch length of chain, both of which may be thoroughly examined by the JREF to conduct the preliminary test.

Only my ability and demonstration that I can positively and correctly identify at least 9 out of 10 hidden objects shall constitute a successful completion of such a test.

Here is my reply:

Dear Mr. Leuthold,
Thank you for your JREF Challenge application and claim letter. You have followed the Challenge rules perfectly, and your claim has been accepted. Now we must work on the test protocol.

I am somewhat concerned about your request to be permitted to hold "duplicates" of the objects in your hand. Please be more specific about this point.

Do you need to hold EACH duplicate prior to testing? Do you need to hold the duplicate DURING testing? Are you asking to hold each specific duplicate prior to being asked to locate that specific object? We need to know more about this part of your protocol proposal. It is possible that you may need to abandon this request before testing can take place, as JREF must prevent against cheating or self-deception during the test procedure.

I look forward to your reply, and I regret that my last email to you was not received.

Dear Mr. Kramer!
Thank you for your prompt reply to my application. Please accept my apology for not responding immediately!
It is with shame and humiliation that I must ask you to cancel my claim as stated in my application. After having done several double-blind tests I must confess that my claim was apparently based on self-delusion. I should have heeded dear Mr. Randi's advice/warning before mailing you my application; I could have avoided bothering you with yet another silly claim!

Sincerely,
Michael Leuthold
