Lying Dick Cheney and the Lying Liar he is...

Hey now, you guys cannot go around calling Cheney a liar!

After all, he was not under oath when he said that Saddam had nuclear weapons, Saddam was supporting terrorists, Saddam stole his lunch money, and all of that other stuff.

:p

So the man lied! So, what? It's not like we all don't lie now and then!

And really, who got hurt?

What?

...oh.

nevermind

I will not pretend that I'm a grammarian. It's apparent to everyone by now, that, I have, no, idea, where, these blasted, commas, belong. I am young (early) and attended public schools. Maybe former Catholics, native Brits, Asian immigrants can answer an elementary question:

Former assistant secretary of state James P. Rubin wrote in Foreign Affairs that when Cheney met with Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei, the two most prominent U.N. inspectors, he bluntly told them that if the Bush administration found fault with their judgment, "we will not hesitate to discredit you." It now appears that it's Cheney who's been discredited.

Is that last line correct? The apostrophe's obviously give me problems. It took two years, and many beatings, to understand the diffeernce between "its" and "it's".

Yes, it's correct.

who's = who has

Before the war I thought it was not possible to be strongly opposed to it on an objective basis because the administration might have facts which couldn't be made public, but proved the need for the war.

It seems pretty clear now that the major justifications for the war provided by the administration before the war were false.

But that still doesn't prove that the war was a bad idea. But it comes close enough for this person that normally votes Republican to vote for just about anybody else except Bush in the next election.

What's particularly sad for me is that following the complete US cave-in to Israel any credibility we might have had as an honest broker for peace is gone and the trust we need from the Iraqi's to assist them with the rebuilding of their country may be destroyed.

Okay, QUICK RECAP

This is NOT an editorial. It is a COLUMN. A COLUMN is by a writer. It is SIGNED.

An EDITORIAL is by the NEWSPAPER, it states the position of the newspaper. It is UNSIGNED.

This is no more an Editorial in the Post than George Will's column.

There's a BIG difference. A HUGE difference, if you actually know what you're talking about.

If the Post actually called Cheney a liar in an EDITORIAL, it's like "Holy ◊◊◊◊!" time.

If a writer in an opinion column writes it, it's like "Ho hum... beltway windbags as usual."

Touche, it is on the OP/Ed pages...but it was a column by a columnist...indeed, it is not "The Post" but a writer contracted with by the Post. I happen to like and agree with the tone and what the author is saying, but you are right, he no more speaks for the Post than does Will, or any of their columnists.

My Bad....:o

Here is the title of your thread

Lying Dick Cheney and the Lying Liar he is...

What are you getting at? Are you trying to say that Dick stretched the truth a bit?

:D

Can someone confirm this for me: That Dick Cheney had never travelled overseas before he took his current political office, and that he didn't even have a passport issued until then?

If so, what's with this guy? Scared of flying or something?

Just remember, if you're a registered American voter, please vote. If you think he is justified, that's fine. If you think he's a lying cesshole of untruths, that's fine too. Keep the Bush administration accountable and don't forget all of this next year.
