Hi there. Maybe you missed it, but I have explained that I have undergone study and tests with Dr Steinkemp from Edingburgh University (Koestler Inst). Thank you for the offer though.

For my part in the experiments, I can tell you that I was extraordineeriely accurate.

When asked when this study would be published, Lucianarchy answered:

With a bit of luck, by the end of the year.

It is now Feb 29th, 2004. Still no sign of any study, where Lucianarchy is shown to be "extraordineeriely accurate"....

Wasn't Steven Gerard promising a study as well?

Steve Grenard. Oh, he's promised so many by now... :)

I'll see if I can dig up some.

geni,

This is what you're (probably) referring to. The overview is
here. This study is supposed to use a 'tight' protocol that blinds the medium and the sitters (medium has no physical contact with sitters, the 'real sitter' doesn't know who they are since they are just one member of a group). As the 'overview' suggests, they believe the results are 'positive' :

" the intended recipients’ acceptance levels continued to be higher than non- recipients, the odds against chance being a million to one."

The devil is in the details, and the report was due to be published int he "Journal of the S.P.R in January 2004."

The interesting thing about this is that they are claiming to have controlled for all the obvious possible leaks. Steve has been 'promoting' this study for many months. Just where is it?

Steve is a busy man, it seems....

"One trance medium I am working with is communicating with the spirit of a person who was 90 when she passed a few years ago. The medium is 28, and therefore she was born long before this 90 year old passed. She is validating information from this person, who is a friend of someone's and who lived over 2,000 miles from here and about which neither she (nor I ahead of time) knew much if anything personal about. We are using a particularly stringent control for this case which I cannot as yet divulge and won't until or unless this case is published."

Loki,

The study (by Robertson and Roy) was published in the January 2004 issue of the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research.

Mark Tidwell has written about the Robertson/Roy protocol used for this study in Skeptic Report:

Regarding the Robertson/Roy study, Mark Tidwell had this to say in a thread entitled "Mediumship: What would it take?"

I look forward to the publication of R&R's third paper, and will take this opportunity to repeat a statement I have made previously, on a seperate forum. If this experiment produces positive results while sticking to the same strict protocol outlined in the second paper, I will have to seriously reconsider my position on the paranormal. Athough I had a few nitpicky concerns about the design, I think it is one of the tightest protocols I have ever seen, and based on Dr. Robertson's earlier comments, it seems that some of these conditions have already been improved upon.

Now that the paper has been published, I hope Mark will share his thoughts on it.

Mike D.

Yes, I've read Mark's "preview" before.

So the report has been published? I've been to the SPR website before, but they don't make (the recent issuesof ) the Journal available online. Any chance that someone ( Journal subscriber, I guess) can provide a two minute 'summary' of the report's findings?

(Yeah, I'm not the type to restrain my inhibitions...)

It's interesting to note that Fiona Steinkamp does a quite a bit of work with online tests. I wonder if that is what Lucian did and then inflated it in his mind into "being tested by the Koestler Institute".

It is now Oct. 11th, 2004. Still no sign of any study, where Lucianarchy is shown to be "extraordineeriely accurate"....

I understand that the coin was tossed once and Luci accurately predicted heads, but then due to unforeseen circumstances (if only they were testing precognition:D ) the experiments were brought to a halt.

But despite this you can’t argue with a 100% record.

My understanding was that Luci actually predicted tails, but the security forces swung into action to prevent this "attack" of tails. When the coin came down heads it thus confirmed both Luci's precognative powers and that those in the highest echelons of power act on Luci's predictions.

Aaaargh! You used the supersekrit word. Expect a visit from the MIB anytime soon!;)

Maybe the word eerie in extraordineeriely should have been a clue...
(If only Interesting Ian were here to explain it too us.)
