Louisiana Congressman has an Intersting Takeaway After Visit to Auschwitz

"A more robust security apparatus would have stopped this" is a pretty interesting takeaway from the Holocaust.

Just in time for Independence Day, U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins, R-Port Barre, has a video message for America. But instead of visiting constituent cookouts, shooting off fireworks and waving the United States flag, Higgins delivers a stark dispatch from the Nazis' Auschwitz concentration camp at Oswiecim, Poland.

"A great sense of dread comes over you in this place," Higgins says, leading the viewer on a five-minute, nine-second tour of the site, with a dirge-like solo violin playing in the background. "Man's inhumanity to man can be quite shocking."

"This is why homeland security must be squared away, why our military must be invincible," says Higgins, a former law enforcement officer*who serves on the House Homeland Security Committee. "The world's a smaller place now than it was in World War II. The United States is more accessible to terror like this, horror like this.

"It's hard to walk away from the gas chambers and ovens without a very sober feeling of commitment -- unwavering commitment -- to make damn sure that the United States of America is protected from the evils of the world."

This doesn't make sense. Nazism and the Jewish holocaust weren't something that some foreign intruding element did to Germany. It was the country's own domestic policy, set by its own government at the highest level. A more "together" internal security force and a more "invincible" military would've just made the Holocaust more difficult to resist.

It's almost as if that guy is stupid and missed the point.
 
Asking government what is the answer to any problem will always return the answer, more government.

I figured it was that the jewish refugees got their communism properly dealt with by a strong military nation. Rather than have them admitted into the US.

And we were right to send the jews back to germany to their deaths then just as we are right to do so with syrians now.

Well conceivably if Poland had a stronger military it could have resisted the Nazi invasion and so the death camp wouldn't be in poland, and germany would have been limited to exterminating its own jews.

But as a statement for a stronger pre WWII polish military when it was attacked by two major powers and that it should have been able to stand against them is not effectively conveyed by these tweets.
 
"A more robust security apparatus" would have killed all those non-humans at birth. It would have made Auschwitz gas chambers totally unnecessary.
