I just saw a commercial for a new series called Long Island Medium which will start airing on TLC later this month. It looks like it's going to be awful. Some woman approaches people in parking lots and stores and starts cold reading. The commercial shows one woman saying "I don't believe people can talk to the dead," and then shows her in disbelief as the medium provides her with some info. Ugh!

It's already had a first season.

If you really want to, you can look it up on youtube.

When I first heard about this show I thought it was going to be a "Survivor" type show with various "Psychics" competing using only their amazing mind powers to find food, move objects and solve mysteries etc. The back-stabbing would be great as they each accused the others of magical sabotage.

Pity it wasn't what I thought, it would've been a much better show.

I saw this a few months ago while flicking through the channels. It was awful. I'm ebarrassed to be a Long Islander.

Yeah, that one's really bad. I already wrote to TLC to tell them I thought anything about psychics had no business being on a channel with "learning" in its name.

I've also seen it. It may not even be cold reading, because all the encounters she has could be completely scripted. Who knows?

I also want to mention that I thought this show was particularly bad because her kids are featured in it. I don't know whether she's tricked them into believing, or if they're in on the game as well, but either way it's an awful thing to do to your children.

I just watched some of it on youtube. "Jersey Shore" is no longer the most vacuous piece of trash to take place on the East Coast.
