"What is fundamentally different from you demanding that logic be used or lil Freddie Phelps demanding his basis for life be used?"

Essentially a response to my excuse to being "intolerant" to what I consider un-reason.

Is logic really just another form of God hating people with particular sexual orientation?

Fred Phelps... Now there is real piece of work.

I wonder how he got to the dark and twisted place he lives in today?

Fred Phelps.

Yeah I'm gonna take lessons in logic from a guy that shotguns puppies for crapping on his lawn in front of the kid who's dog it is.

What a twat.

I've often heard speculation that he is a self-loathing closeted gay man, although I hesitate to refer to him as a man. It seems evident that he is full of hatred.

He seems to me to represent the logical extension of the way that Fundamentalist Christians seek to gain fame and power by bashing gay people. As if he was so naive as to actually believe the crap spouted by Christians.

We often hear it said that in order to love someone else we must first learn how to love ourselves. Could the inverse apply to the Reverend?

I know I don't love him.

My theory is that Freddie, in his awkward teenage years, made a gay pass which didn't go over too well, and got beat up or something for it. Everything since has been overcompensation to try to forget how Tommy* scorned his youthful love in the locker room.

*I'm guessing at the name. I'm not sure if they attended the same school, or if their ages line up, but perhaps Tommy was actually Pat Robertson? It would explain both of them.

It is my opinion that there are people who are born sick and twisted. There is something fundamentally wrong in their brain. Sociopaths basically. Some pick up a gun and shoot random people for no reason and have no remorse, others would like to but don't have the balls.

He's just a money-grubbing barking mad lunatic. The appalling hatred and ongoing criminal behaviour are added extras...

When he drops off the twig, the whole Westboro thing will wither and blow away... And good riddance to bad rubbish.

I have another thread going about a religious bigot at work. He has made several intolerant statements about other religions (Catholic, Muslim, even other Christian sects) that he cannot back up with any knowledge.

I gave him an assignment, to go to Phelps' website and read as much as he could. I told him to pretend that he knew nothing of Christianity and to base his evaluation on that sight alone.

I am hoping that he may see a bit of himself in the rantings and ravings of a lunatic like the "Reverend" Fred Phelps.

On a related note, it is my humble opinion that years ago, some one stuck it into Freddy, and broke it off.
