Little brother to the rescue

Are these people insane? They've lost at every turn in the courts and their legislative end run is a failure...so they want to make this poor women government property?

That's appalling and disgusting!

She should belong to the media.

This, too, shall pass. I sincerely doubt that the Florida courts are gonna grant custody of Schiavo to the State of Florida. On what grounds????

You know what's the saddest part of all of this? I don't blame the Schindlers. I know, I know...many people can't understand why they don't just let go. But, Terri is their daughter. And they love her. And they can't get it in their heads that she's never coming back. That's how parents are. That's what having human emotions does to us.

The saddest part is that this family's hopes are being raised and dashed quicker than the blinking of a traffic light and all for the sake of impressing constituents and winning approval ratings.

What is up with this talk? What do you mean "this poor woman?" How is she a poor woman? I thought the whole point is that she is totally dead and gone anyways! How is she suffering? If she isn't going to suffer from having her tube pulled, she sure as heck isn't suffering now!
Why is it so important that her tube be pulled? She's gone already! Why not just let this empty shell be kept alive because her parents find solace in having it around? Why is it so important that this shell is allowed to die? It doesn't make sense. The very argument that compells folks to say that she should die is also a very persuasive argument for why she should be kept alive. She is nothing! A dead woman by the admission of all those who advocate her "right to die." What's the big fuss? If she's an empty shell she's already dead and doesn't have any rights anymore. She isn't suffering by being alive, so why not keep her alive for the parents?
It just seems stupid and cruel to let her die when obviously her parents place so much value on her being around.....what is the point? She's gone, she has no rights, she doesn't care one iota what happens to her, and yet you have all the "right to die" folks jumping out of their seats about "this poor woman."
Earth to the right to die folks: She's already dead. What's the big deal? She doesn't give a damn about her dignity or her current state. So who cares? It's a totally vindictive and cruel act to pull the tube when some are fighting so hard to keep her alive because it gives them comfort.
Of course you and I know that there is nothing left of her at all, but this is the very reason why she is not a "poor woman" if she's kept alive.

The concept of keeping a corpse breathing and crapping the bed for 15 years after her brain shut down is pretty horrific. The fact that her family would choose to maintain her in this condition is sick. The way that certain politicians and media hacks have climbed aboard the situation is pathetic.

Anybody ever read the Harlan Ellison short story 'I have no mouth, and I must scream'? A fictional horrific concept that reminds me of this real life tragedy.

Two reasons, Dog. First, who is paying for her to stay "alive?" You are. And me. And every other taxpayer. So, why should all of us pay to keep this "empty shell" (your phrase) breathing? Note, I did not use the word "alive." She is not "alive" in any meaningful sense of the word.

Second, you appear to ignore the wishes of the very person at the center of the issue - Terri. She stated that she did not want live as a vegetable. At least, NUMEROUS, court rulings have accepted this as a real statment of her wishes. So, who are you to advocate a policy contrary to her own wishes?
