I just realized that I would be an absolutely perfect subject for a psychic to “read” and just see how close their “guess” is.
The past year and a half has been very dramatic for my family
Two terrible illnesses, one dramatic recovery, one that didn’t; life changing surgery
All the people involved have uncommon names
Virtually all the details have a high degree of “uniqueness” about them that would exclude guessing by chance (at least I think they would)
I’m not planning on visiting a psychic friend but was just wondering if it would make since to have the “accuracy” of the reading based on hits from this “list of unfortunate events”

"I see someone with a chest problem."

"I see a woman with a problem in her back."

"Everything is okay now, but there was a period when things looked pretty bad. *laughs*"

Hi Kedo

Same with me. My four grandparentd died around 'huge' events in my life. I spent money over the years, 10 in total, searching for them. Got the old 'I have a lady she loves you chestnut but never the key word that would leave me in no doubt.

Been hard/upsetting/form of my own grief councelling but my grandparents ain't there, they are dead, no more.

untill of course I get a key word;) , which I can't see happening.

Kedo if you got the key words would that do it for you? would you believe?

I would and wouldn't. If it came from someone on the internet I wouldn't as I've posted the info on my old forum HP. But if I walked into a spiritalist church, off the cuff, sat down and they told me, blah, blah, blah, without a yes/no response from me then I would after making 100% sure I hadn't made it fit find it hard to explain, but at the same time would have serious doubts too, I can't win can I?

I was thinking that it might make for “controlled list” that the psycho could try for a predicted number of hits

Sorry Kedo

Gottcha;)

I'm the other side of the coin. I just know if there was such a thing as contacting the dead I have four key events that happened around their death, not run of the mill, and I have no doubt they would have been picked up by now if there was such a thing. Not a dickie bird. Which if I'm honest does make me feel gutted as I would have LOVED to see my grandparents again.

Much just share while I'm here. Went to a spiritualist church, in hope, about four years ago.

Medium: I have your pop here

Me: POP??? My dads alive and well.

Medium: yes it's pop

me: can't be my dads not dead?

Medium: he's saying you used to call him pop

I just smiled.

Did not have the nerve or the need to embarras her in front of all the old people who had just been contaced by their dead partners.

Never in my life had I ever called anyone in that time of my life pop. But she would NOT have it!

;)

Seriously though.

I can so understand why believers choose to ignore the explanations about mediums. Before I understood there was such a thing as cold readings I honest to goodness believed my nanny had come through. I recenetly played back one of the tapes and I just sob on the tape at the part where I 'believed' my nanny was communicating.

Like I say it's no wonder folk don't want to believe. Takes away so much from them.

I personally still live in hope(would give anything to be reunited with my loved ones, who wouldn't?) but I'm sensible enough now to realise that if it could be done we'd know about it by now.

Sharon.
I'm getting a message from the other side...
...the spirits are saying your entire family need to have DNA tests done.

Or at least have a serious talk with your mother.

;)

Jambo and his instruments are mysteriously missing from this thread.

They should be here already. Too late now...They've been rumbled.

Their powers must be low on batteries.

People not having problems or experienced tragedy do not bother with psychics. What remains is to find out if why you are there happened, or is happening.

Truly sorry to hear that. This sounds like a psychic smörgåsbord though. Just about any reading would have some hits.

All the people involved have uncommon names

"I'm getting an 'M' --- 'mauri', 'moto', something like that.
Oh wait, it has an 'N' sound."

Virtually all the details have a high degree of “uniqueness” about them that would exclude guessing by chance (at least I think they would)

You will probably be disappointed by expecting details.
"I see an ocean."

I’m not planning on visiting a psychic friend but was just wondering if it would make since to have the “accuracy” of the reading based on hits from this “list of unfortunate events”

Here's what I think: The BIG difference for 'success' is in the client.

Hi Sam

I am 'so' getting better at getting gags/jokes. I even got yours too. Two in 24 hours, mircales 'do' happen;)

I would LOVE Jambo to join in on this. So many questions to ask him/her.

Can't see it happening though.

"In that time of my life". Yes. [steeples fingers] Obviously she was picking up an echo of your future. You will call somebody pop in the future [raise eyebrow and nod knowingly]

It was an example of what some cold readers do, which is to throw out a statement, then push the sitter to see if they can make a connection. Because of peer pressure, often the sitter will eventually stretch the statement to match.

Obviously you're made of sterner stuff!

Sharon, I know this won't make you any happier about your grandparents, but think on this:

Nearly everyone in the world will suffer through the loss of at least one grandparent during their life. And given that in many cultures the family unit is much more closely knit than ours, that grandparent will have lived and probably died in the family home, and their passing will be a local and deep loss for them all. But such is our life, and our death. So expect that these sad things will happen again in your life - it is "normal", for example, for the children to bury the parents (the opposite being a tragedy).

The point is that you are not unique in your sorrow over the passing of your own grandparents, however they died. We all go through it at some time, even us skeptics.

But you can "communicate" with them after their death - you keep them alive in your memories of them. And if you are lucky, they will also leave to you somehow, in permanent form, the story of their lives. Mementos, writing, pictures - it's one of the things that sets us humans apart - we know how to make our presence transcend time. Which is why I suggest you start writing your own life story now...for your own grandchildren to read about you when you're gone too (in about a hundred years or so!).

No psychic can ever hope to beat that.

Unfortunately the Jambos of this world watching youwould have seen what they interpreted to be a perfect rerading.

Next day on the internet forums
"It was amazing - she got that this woman called her father 'Pop'. How unlikely would that be? That medium's the real deal alright."

Jambo couldn't see a failed reading if he tried.

I've got one for the remote healers/viewers. They need only tell me the answer to one question: "What specific major body part, either external or internal, am I missing?"

Psychics may attempt to answer "Why is it missing?" for bonus marks.

Teeth, the appendix, and tonsils, of course, don't count, and I won't accept junk answers like "something above/below your waist" either. I need a specific part name at least as detailed as "left pinky toe" or "right lung" or something.

I consider that my personal "preliminary challenge". Somebody does that successfully, I'll start paying attention.

I agree Zep. As long as I'm alive so are they, in my heart.

That is a fantastic idea, one I would have loved to have been passed down to me, soone I am going to do. Wonderful idea.

No psychic can ever hope to beat that.

This is so true. Also Zep I do wonder on this. If mediums as they claim are the telephone from this world to the next and their making contact is about helping folk conect and 'know' that their loved ones live on I just wonder why do folk keep going back to mediums? I mean we had our contact, they love us, they tell us nowt else, why do folk keep going back and back I wonder?

Jambo, maybe you can help here?

p.s. I'm not just saying it Zep, I love your idea, so much so I'm going to share it with my friends who also have children.

Have you ever woken up in a bathtub full of ice with a cell phone close by and a note reading "Call 911"?
