It seems to me that almost all librarians agree that AGW is real and that climate change is a very important issue. Why is this? Is it perhaps because librarians are trained to judge the validity of their sources on scientific matters?

Here in Texas, in the spring and summer, Librarians are constantly changing the climate in libraries. This magical thing called "an air conditioner" allows them to do that.

Science, at work for you, me, and posterity. :)

I'm not aware of any statement by the American Library Association on this subject. Amongst my colleagues, I haven't had any real discussions, but we do recycle paper as much as possible.

It's because they get more funding if they can relabel book shelves as "carbon repositories".

I think that. The general view of librarians on climate change is that they would like you to keep quiet about it.

Shhh!

The "white noise" of air conditioners in libraries also helps with the quiteness by disguising whispers and other noises, allowing the brain to actually be more comfortable when reading than with true, complete silence.

This is, of course, a contentious issue because some feel "white noise" theory is just put up by air conditioning manufacturers and doesn't actually help the quietness. Still others feel both sides are idiots and should go about their business.
