The vast, vast majority of it was thwarted. Remember it started with nationalized, single-payer, then was pushed back and back and back and back.

Away went full takeover with single-payer, then full takeover. Then went "public option".

It's almost entirely defeated. Indeed, my primary objection, that it limits profits, was flat-out denied by many supporters here. Even as they, incredulously, disclaimed the link between profits and capitalist technological development, they nevertheless swore the current plan didn't directly (whatever that means) affect profits.


So enjoy the feeling of massive victory. It's a small potatoes, and isn't over, for that matter. There's still several lawsuits about it which can't be waved away, in spite of how much True Believers think. And there's also the election next fall.

Speaking of which, doesn't it bother you that the reason it was rushed through (Obama himself said there was "no time to start all over again") was in the hopes that whatever was passed, the population's anger would ease by November?

Doesn't it? Or do you delude yourself into thinking that's not a correct observation?
