Hey, smart guys and gals. The background on my problem's pretty long, so I'll cut to the chase.

I have an old install of Outlook (not Express) on my D: drive and the new version on my C: drive. Is there any way to import my settings and mail and folders and stuff from one to the other?

Is it the same version of Outlook?

Outlook stores all of that in one file that ends in .pst. You can either copy that file over to your new installation, or there is an option in Outlook to import the data, and you just point it to the .pst file and it'll pull it all in.

I don't know how well that works across versions, though. If it's a different version of Outlook, then the Import option is probably the best one.

When you do a backup, it stores it as a .pst, so I have a .pst from like 9/03-12/03.

But I searched the D: drive for *.pst and only found that backup file. How does Outlook store data when it's not backed up?

(P.S. They are the same version of Outlook)

Backing up makes a copy of the Outlook .pst file. There should be an outlook.pst file somewhere in your Documents and Settings folder. It's probably under Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook. This is the .pst file Outlook uses the whole time.

If you're not seeing it on a search, it's because it's a hidden file. Go to your folder options and change the setting to show hidden files and folders.
