2 dead in militant fire as Abbas visits Gaza mourning tent - 14/11/2004 18:44

At least two people were killed Sunday when the entourage of former Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) came under militant gunfire during a visit to a mourning tent for Yasser Arafat in Gaza City, witnesses said.

The Reuters news agency quoted Palestinian sources as saying that the gunmen were protesting Abbas' presence at the tent.

Well that didn't take long...less than 48 hours after Arafat's body was put into the ground.

This is a lesson for everyone. If the Palestinian Authority does not control the islamists how can it negotiate in good faith regarding peace with the Israelis.
