Leonard Cohen, the hugely influential singer and songwriter whose work spanned five decades, died at the age of 82. Cohen's label, Sony Music Canada, confirmed his death on the singer's Facebook page.
"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away," the statement read. "We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief." A cause of death and exact date of death was not given.

RIP Leonard Cohen.

My pain is no credential here,
it's just the shadow, shadow of your wound.
...
You say you've gone away from me,
but I can feel you when you sing.

Adapted from the lyrics of "Avalanche":

I had just listened to a spot on NPR about Cohen finishing up his US tour... Apparently still on stage as of a week ago.

Apparently his financial advisor stole millions from his retirement account so he was forced back into touring at one point. I think that may have been a few years ago, so I'm not sure that is why he was still touring.

"Suzanne" is one of the greatest songs ever written, IMHO, with "Bird on a Wire" a close second. Still hate "Hallelujah", though.
He took years to write Hallelujah.
Saw him in Auckland several years ago.
I never quite figure why these guys let people handle their money.
