If any of you are near Kentucky, you might want to attend.

from the KPS announcement:
The Kentucky Paleontological Society has asked Chris Brochu of the University of Iowa, to be our speaker for the 2003 Darwin Lecture. Dr. Brochu recently completed a postdoc at the Field Museum in Chicago. There he researched "Sue" the Tyrannosaurus.

The Darwin Lecture will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30 PM in Memorial Hall (NOT Memorial Colliseum) on the University of Kentucky Campus. The Darwin Lecture is free and open the public.

Sue the Tyrannosaurus? Surely there's a statute of limitations about rampaging through through the Jurassic period? I bet the judge throws it out on a technicality.

Professor Brochu is a very good speaker. I recommend attending this if you're in the area.

If I remember correctly (having taken an elective course under him at the University of Iowa a few years back), his main interests are in prehistoric super-crocodiles, and, of course, T-Rex itself.

I think Sue is the one Gary Larson's brother was involved with excavating. Court cases were indeed involved. Tax evasion, as I recall.
