A truly wonder filled movie
I was PO-ed when I heard that Jackson was doing a remake (I want to see original stuff) but like the Monkees (get it) said, “now I’m a believer”.
The film has amazing scenes of stunning beauty, edge of your seat action and a true sense affection for old movies.
Its definitely a movie for people who love old movies, the multi layered references to the original Kong are a hoot.

Seconded. It's already a joy to watch in the first 45min, before any kind of CGI critter pops up, just on the strength of the acting. And afterwards it does all the things that Jurassic Park wanted to do and bungled, and it's gorgeous :)
Even if you know the story (and who doesn't), there is such a tingling sense of adventure in the way Skull Island is slowly revealed...

Caught the midnight premiere, and went in again the very next day. Andy Serkis plays a mean ape.

Seconded here too. Adventure and wonder at its finest. The love triangle is a brilliant stroke.

This weekend I saw the 2 best movies of the year (Kong & Syriana), and 2 of the best movies I've ever seen. Now that's a good weekend.

Loved the movie, but if I see one more close-up of Naomi Watts staring into the distance with her mouth half open, I'm going to scream.

My wife and I saw it yesterday, and another enthusiastic thumbs-up.

Ms. Watts is not hard to look at.... Anyone recall that she played "Jet Girl" opposite Lori Petty in Tank Girl? First thing I recall seeing her in.

King Kong

I saw it at the first showing on Saturday and liked it a bunch. I'm not sure if a certain person I know enjoyed the movie or not. I know she got into it and would call it well-done; I know she found it compelling, but she said "It really upset me." She said she started crying from the last scene on Skull Island through the rest of the movie.

A co-worker of mine recommeneded it. 3 hours stolen from your life?

I'm a bit cynical that hollywood keeps insisting on remaking movies.

Charlie (Burgess Meredith/Lon Chaney in "Mice and Men" is definitive) Monoxide
