Randi recently was battling that scammer, Kevin Trudeau, of "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" fame (or infamy). I doubt many here read the book, figuring it's the usual snake-oil salesman's stuff. Well, according to the recent review in the Skeptical Inquirer, it's much worse than that.

Choice quotes:

"The number one reason people get sick is because of the amount of drugs they take... Statistics show conclusively the more prescription and nonprescription drugs a person takes, the sicker they are."

"I was looking through history books about Nazi concentration camps in WWII and noticed that the people behind the barbed wire were all thin. There weren't any fat people there... your genes don't make you fat, everyone can lose weight."

"Animals in the wild never get sick."

"There are cultures in the world where people never have had cancer, heart disease, acid reflux disease, or prostate problems".

Oh, dear.

I could convert all the universe's energy into heat and it still wouldn't be enough to properly set this man on fire as he truly ought to be.

Edit: I reserve the right to ignore that there probably wouldn't actually be a fire so much as vaporization. Shush. Literary device thingum.

That is probably one of the most insensitive things I have ever seen. So the fool is heartless as well as brainless.

Now, if we really want to make this twit go away publicizing that quote should cause him enough negative press to make him hide for a long time. There is a quote that an interviewer should blast him on. Make him squirm on tv trying to explain that one.

Of course, these are just tidbits.

The book's main claim is that there is an enormous conspiracy by both the drug companies and the food companies, where scientists working in secret laboratories add "poisonous chemicals" to foods that make people addicted to them and/or make them fat and/or sick so that the diet / drug establishment can make a killing.

These additives, naturally, are not reported on the "contents" label of the food since, well, it's SECRET and stuff.

(I'm not making this up, honest!)

This conspiracy involves, naturally, everybody who is anybody in the drug and food companies or the FDA, most medical doctors and nutritionists, etc., etc., etc.

Strangely, not a single one of the scientists / doctors / researches / executives involved in this multi-generational conspiracy involving tens of thousands of participants had ever said a word about this to anybody who is not part of the conspiracy. Nor does Trudeau clarify how he alone, brave whitleblower fighter for justice that he is, discovered this awful truth.

I suppose Trudeau thinks my grandmother should have sent a "thank you" card to Mr. A. H. for allowing her to watch her weight so well in one of his health spas.

So much better than getting fat because of those evil, evil food companies that secretly put "poisonous chemicals" in your food.

Statistics also show that the more prescription and non-prescription drugs a person takes, the older they are. Apparently drugs cause time to pass.

Statistics also show that the more prescription and non-prescription drugs a person takes, the more likely they are to have grandchildren.:boggled:
