I'm watching "Parky" (the Michael Parkinson show) and they've got Kevin, Joanna Lumley and Ricky Gervais on. JL has alreay declared that she has a ghost story and MP has agreed that they exist. They put KK on the spot, ask him about ghosts and he comes out with "there's many things we don't understand ..... so yes"

RG just says "I don't understand fridges.. so what ?" top bloke.

And now he's getting into a [slight exaggeration] stand up, drag out fight with the other guests [/slight exaggeration].Top, top bloke

Let us know if Kevin says, "Don't call me stupid!" and goes ballistic.

Damn! I missed all this:( Mind you, I was watching MOTD, so it wasn't all bad...

Why is it that chat shows have an obsession with the so called paranormal? I'm fed up of eating my tea whilst watching Richard and Judy get enthusiastic about the latest bol*ocks...

Joanna Lumley's story was about when she moved into an old, large, house. A lot of her stuff was being put into the cellar. Apparently the last removal man to leave was very old and said "Get out of this place !". She phoned the removal place to complain and they said that they didn't employ anyone matching that description and temperament (dodging a complaint ?).

During the time she lived there with her young children in an old house (presumably without adequate central heating or draught exclusion) she experienced objects being lost or mislaid, feeling cold at times and strange air movements. She felt that she, rather than the house, was being haunted. Strange that when she moved to a newer house (without children or with older children) the haunting stopped.

I tuned in to the end of this show. Just caught Joanna's daft story, then Parky's 'I'm a complete skeptic, but once when I was a kid I saw a piano playing all by itself'.

I thought Ricky was a star. Asked how he explains such things, Ricky, (oh dear, I sound like I know him personally) said something like 'it's not up to me to explain them, it's up to the people who make these claims to prove they're true'.

Good stuff

Yeah I was watching that very show until Parky mentioned that he had seen a ghost once.

I turned over at that point.

There's also infrasound

Which means that at least some of the people who think that they've experienced ghosts aren't imagining it.

It's still not ghosts, but the experience is real.

Yes I was impressed by that.

When was the last time EVER you heard someone on a chat show say they had a spooky or paranormal story and then another guest says, not only are they a sceptic, but explains the burden of proof is on the believer to prove their claims.

Joanna took it like a pro, but she must have been a little bit put out by Ricky's response which was basically "Bollocks".

Ricky Gervais has now gone even higher in my estimation.

By the way, does anyone else remember "Ghostwatch" hosted by Michael Parkinson?

I thought it was really quite creepy, despite having Mike Smith and Sarah Greene in.

Yes I remember that, I remember quickly realising that it was a "fake".

I also remember the next day hearing about some kid (I think he had a low IQ or something) who comitted suicide so that he could be a ghost.

So while you won't see it on the beeb again, aparently you can get that showon DVD now.

:)

I've got it on DVD. I didn't think it was at all real, but it was creepy like a spooky film.

Pipes was quite a nasty character for a BBC drama.
