...So let's stop looking for them.

Creationist Ken Ham, who recently debated Bill Nye the Science Guy over the origins of the universe, is calling for an end to the search for extraterrestrial life because aliens probably don't exist -- and if they do, they're going to Hell anyway.

"You see, the Bible makes it clear that Adam’s sin affected the whole universe," Ham wrote on his blog on Sunday. "This means that any aliens would also be affected by Adam’s sin, but because they are not Adam’s descendants, they can’t have salvation."

The post was driven in part by NASA experts saying that they expect to find evidence of alien life within the next 20 years.

More in the article, posted without comment.

Nowhere in the quotes does Ham suggest that the search should be stopped or aliens will go to hell.

He said he didn't think they existed but if they did they wouldn't be sons of Adam and couldn't be saved.

Not even if they found Jesus? You'd think that Christians, who have been looking for him a quite a few centuries, would be so grateful if someone/something did. :boggled:

Just think of all those poor little alien protazoa, damned for all eternity.

Ken Ham seems to be claiming now that he has some convoluted reason for wanting the search to continue but the blog entry of his that prompted the news articles has this sentence very near the start: "I’m shocked at the countless hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent over the years in the desperate and fruitless search for extraterrestrial life."

Most reasonable people would take that as a suggestion to stop the search.

There may one day be a cure for AIDS. There may even be a cure for cancer and for the common cold.

But there will never be a cure for stupid!!!

NOTE: AFAIK Ken Ham is not a member, but can we nominate him for a Stundie anyway?

I think what he is saying is that if aliens exist, they don't have souls, so there'd be no point in sending missionaries to alien civilizations and thus no point in finding them.

On the plus side, this means that while Ken Ham did leave his native Australia to spread his stupidity across the whole world, it will stop here. We don't have to worry so much about the likes of him embarrassing us in front of aliens.

Speaking of which, do any missionary organizations buy arecibo time to spread the "good news"?

Wait, wait, lemme get this straight... so God, in his infinite mercy and justice, not only will torture someone for all eternity for something a distant ancestor did, thousands of years ago, but will do the same to someone who isn't even a descendant of the guy that did it? I mean, not that I find even the former justifiable or sane, but the latter is just nuts.

It's like saying I hate the eskimos and they have it coming to them, for what Hitler did. WTH did the eskimo have to do with that?

Replace that with aliens and Adam, and that's pretty much what's being claimed.

Ham just wants some of that NASA money for his hideous Ark Park because he can't find enough fools to give him money to get it going.

"Ken Ham says Aliens will go to Hell"

That's funny, I bet the Aliens say the same about Ken Ham...

It seems exceedingly odd to me that Ken Ham thinks the Authors of the bible would say anything about Aliens either way, given that it is supposed to be about Man's salvation. Presumably if Aliens needed salvation, they would have their own bible...
