A New York witch has cast a spell on Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh:

Now, there are clearly two options here: to burn the witch at the stake and hope that this will undo the spell, or for Kavanaugh - now a mere puppet of the witch - to step down.

I would endorse the first option, but some curses become even more powerful after a witches' death.

So in the interest of keeping the Highest Court in the Land free from ungodly influence, Kavanaugh needs to step down.

Not necessary now. A priest just performed a remote exorcism thus canceling the hex.

Funny, I'd have expected the witch to be from Portland Oregon.

These recent mass public political hexings (actually bindings, in most cases) have divided portions of the ceremonial magic scene. Critics have pointed to lack of clear intent, symbolic inconsistencies in the design of the rituals, likelihood of magical backlash upon the casters, and the public openness of the plans making counterspells easy for those on the other side of the politics.

As far as we know none of that matters, but I find poor craftsmanship annoying in any field of endeavor.

Ooh! Does that mean the caster might fall victim to paradox and be turned inside out?

I know the people doing this must take it somewhat seriously, but it's pretty sad.

Backlash is a well-established theory among the Wiccan and pagan community. The idea is that whatever harm you cause returns to you threefold. So if you hex someone, they may break their leg, but you'll break two legs and an arm. Or something.

Did you get that from that documentry from 1996, The Craft?

As much as I'd like to see Kavanaugh spend the rest of his days slipping on banana peels or something, these kooks can't have it both ways. If the witch is claiming some kind of power and she is applying that power to do harm to another person then that's assault, right?

I'm struggling for an analogy, but something like shooting at someone with an unloaded gun might work. Whether she knows the gun is empty or she doesn't, she still gets in trouble.

You forget the 9 3/4 the Amendment that says that for a well-regulated Wizard school, the use of magic should not be infringed.
