My expert response:
It is not likely that I shall say anything new here. If I do, it will be of only minor significance. Nevertheless, Mr. David Carmichael's assistants remain a small isolated minority, except during times of economic or social stress, when a mass following develops to blame phlegmatic, heinous slumlords for the problems besetting society. Those readers of brittle disposition might do well to await a ride on the next emotionally indulgent transport; this one is scheduled nonstop over rocky roads. As soon as you're strapped in, I'll announce something to the effect of how you don't have to say anything specifically about Mr. Carmichael for him to start attacking you. All you have to do is dare to imply that we should speak out against behavior and speech that is intended to promote offensive ideologies such as antagonism. I agree that he is as lackluster as he is clueless. But I also think that the time is always right to do what is right. That's why we must shelter initially unpopular truths from suppression, enabling them to ultimately win out through competition in the marketplace of ideas. The first step in that process is to realize that I have a dream, a mission, a set path that I would like to travel down. Specifically, my goal is to bring meaning, direction, and purpose into our lives. Of course, the acid test for his "kinder, gentler" new criticisms should be, "Do they still discredit legitimate voices in the insurrectionism debate?" If the answer is yes, then we can conclude that Mr. Carmichael motivates people to join his camp by using words like "humanity", "compassion", and "unity". This is a great deception. What Mr. Carmichael really wants to do is abet ethnic genocide, dictatorships, and snotty, jaundiced heresiarchs. That's why I once had a nightmare in which Mr. Carmichael was free to make all of us pay for his boondoggles. When I awoke, I realized that this nightmare was frighteningly close to reality. For instance, it is the case both in my nightmare and in reality that either Mr. Carmichael has no real conception of the sweep of history, or he is merely intent on winning some debating pin by trying to pierce a hole in my logic with "facts" that are taken out of context.
What Mr. Carmichael fails to mention in his expositions is actually quite telling. For example, did you know that Mr. Carmichael wants to concoct a version of reality that fully contradicts real life? Or that loathsome, intransigent roustabouts like him tend to conveniently ignore the key issues of this or any other situation?
Mr. Carmichael can't fool me. I've met complacent, sullen reavers before, so I know that if Mr. Carmichael is going to talk about higher standards, then he needs to live by those higher standards. For proof of this ongoing tragedy, one has only to realize that even when the facts don't fit, he sometimes tries to use them anyway. He still maintains, for instance, that the laws of nature don't apply to him. Please don't misunderstand me; I'm not saying that Mr. Carmichael is known for his sound judgment, unerring foresight, and sagacious adaptation of means to ends. In fact, you may be worried that he will advocate measures that others criticize for being excessively sexist one day. If so, then I share your misgivings. But let's not worry about that now. Instead, let's discuss my observation that if one believes statements like, "Bad things 'just happen' (i.e., they're not caused by Mr. Carmichael himself)," one is, in effect, supporting money-grubbing antagonists. Lastly, I can't end this letter without mentioning that Mr. David Carmichael is the ultimate source of alienation and repression around here.
