He is still revered around the world as a peace-loving working class hero.

But by the time he died, John Lennon was a closet conservative embarrassed by his radical past, according to his former personal assistant.

I find this interesting but I'm pretty skeptical. It has the smell of revisionism and sensationalism. Somebody makes a documentary movie and is probably overstating Lennon's politics to get publicity. If I had to make a guess, and that's all it would be, a guess, is that John's politics went from "radical" to more centrist in his older age (hey, it happens to a lot of us as we get older) and he probably did have some admiration for Ronald Regan mostly because he met him personally. Other than that, I think the film maker could be overstating his knowledge of John Lennon's politics.

The Daily Mail?

Yeah, it's almost certainly a load of crap. The Daily Mail is about as trustworthy as Wing Nut Daily. It does sometimes get things right, but normally by accident in order to support an umbrella position that's absolute garbage.

If conservative can be spelt with the 20th 23rd 1st and 20th letters of the alphabet, then I agree.

Well, numerous news outlets covered this such as msnbc and others. It's not the Daily Mail's integrity at question here, its Fred Seaman's (John Lennon's personal assistant) integrity that matters and needs to be questioned. I think the Daily Mail is quoting Fred Seaman's comments accurately based on what other news outlets are also reporting.
