I thought some of you might have missed MondoAtheist's original thread on this game/simulation:

http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75264

It casts you as Oswald and challenges you to recreate the events of that day as closely as possible. Morally dubious, perhaps, but well worth checking out if you're at all interested in the incident or the conspiracy theories surrounding it, as IMO it shows just how easy it was for Oswald to pull off.

Well, that's bizarre...

An interesting way to debunk conspiracy theories. Does the game also require you to do a lousy job of being a Marine and defect to the Soviet Union?

Apparently they're working on a follow-up where you escape as a famous aviator from a virtual Colditz to a hotel in Liverpool, for no adequately explained reason. You get extra points if the only person to see you is a lone nutcase ;)

That's hilarious!

I forgot all about that guy!

He sent me a snotty-gram based on my answer to his claim on this web page, and I wrote back a snotty answer.

He put about three pages worth of denunciations of me on his web page, hoping I'd swallow the bait. Instead, people complained to his webmaster about that material and a lot of other scurrilous stuff he posted, and they ordered him: take it down or your page is toast. It's gone, now.

He was a howl! Thanks for the memory! :)

No problem; it's like Christophera - you know it's pointless, but you just can't help poking the tiger.

He's at it again, by the way.

To keep things on topic, I forgot to mention that my first half dozen or so tries at this game were made without the benefit of the scope! Unbelievably I didn't try the right mouse button for ages. And I still managed to off Kennedy twice, and injure him a couple more times.

re: the game

You get the highest body count if you aim for the driver just after he makes the turn. My "best" was the driver, the other agent in the front seat, all 4 passengers, 2 motorcycle cops and a few bystanders.

What, that's not how you're supposed to do it?

It's an interesting reconstruction: it's very hard to duplicate Oswald's shots exactly, but it's really easy to shoot somebody in the car!

I got quite obsessed with this game for a while. An endless source of wrong fun. Being a JFK nerd for some years I managed to get a pretty respectable score on my first go, which seemed to show how easy it would've been for LHO. Only thing to do in that case is to go for the high score, which due to the slightly wacky physics is pretty easy to do. Change the traffic options to full and the traffic behaviour to chaotic.

True experts know to shoot the limo driver, then shoot the driver in the VP's car, (the third car) and then the driver of the secret service car (directly behind the Presmobile). It's scripted so the VP's car will always speed up, but if he's shot it'll be uncontrolled. So it'll rocket into the SS car, which sends the agents standing on the running boards flying, which will hit the now accelerating limo, and then the rest of the motorcade panics and speeds up, causing a horrific pile-up that leaves a trail of corpses across the plaza.

Alternatively, if you shoot the limo driver at just the right moment he'll speed up massively and veer left, making a very stylish escape by jumping onto the traintracks.

you can also shoot off Jackie's hat.

On Penn & Teller's show Bulls! Hit!, they did a whole segment on the shooting, and were able to do all the shots in the same amount of time from the same angles and distances.

Plus, they refuted the whole "Back and to the left" BS. Shoot something in the head and it moves forward, not backward, due to the bullet leaving the back of the head.

Now, they did go a tiny bit too far though, they shot at watermelons representing JFK and Connally.

Jackie's watermelon was wearing a pink pillbox hat.

I played this a little while ago. I remember that you can change the size of the motorcade and how bonkers the drivers are. So, set the Motorcade to max size and make the drivers as crazy as possible. When the cars come around, shoot some of them. Watch the havoc.

I thought it was more to do with the, ah... "tissue" being ejected, and Einstein taking over at that point.

After reading this thread, I introduced JFK: Reloaded to the boys at the office. We've been working hard since then, and the best score from the group is a 687 (not mine - I've a 577). No-one now disputes that Oswald could have made the shots, so I guess it was worth it.
