I recently came across the Christchurch City Library's website. Among their extensive collection of scanned material is the Christchurch Star's edition of 23 November 1963.
A mixture of luck (due to the timing of the assasination) and hard work meant that the paper was one of the first to be published with extensive coverage of JFK's death. The website neatly debunks the conspiracy theory that the coverage was written before the assasination and explains how the paper managed to get the story so quickly.
