The IHR is sometimes mischaracterized as a “Holocaust denial” organization. This smear is completely at variance with the facts. The Institute does not “deny the Holocaust.” Every responsible scholar of twentieth century history acknowledges the great catastrophe that befell European Jewry during World War II.
All the same, the IHR has published detailed books and numerous probing essays that call into question aspects of the orthodox Holocaust extermination story, and highlight specific Holocaust exaggerations and falsehoods. IHR publications have devoted considerable attention to this issue because it plays an enormously significant role in the cultural and political life of America and much of the world. As a number of Jewish scholars have acknowledged, the “Holocaust” campaign is a major weapon in the Jewish-Zionist arsenal. It is used to justify otherwise unjustifiable Israeli policies, and to extort enormous sums of money, especially from European countries and companies.
If I was standing in the middle of a downpour, soaked to the skin, with thunder and lightning flashing all around me, and the IHR told me it was raining...I'd be skepticalIf the IHR told me it was raining, I would check outside.

Wikipedia also says that she was being "sardonic," but five minutes of Googling doesn't really give a consensus on that.
I'm sure right after she said that she added "not!" ....Wikipedia confirms that Stein said, "I say that Hitler ought to have the peace prize, because he is removing all the elements of contest and of struggle from Germany. By driving out the Jews and the democratic and Left element, he is driving out everything that conduces to activity. That means peace ... By suppressing Jews ... he was ending struggle in Germany," citing as its source New York Times Magazine, May 6, 1934. The IHR's level of reliability among reputable historians is 0.0000000.
Knowing what I know about her, that's highly likely. But then, that's the way it goes with her brand of wit. There are people who will never get the dark humor or choose not to take it in any way but literally, for their own purposes.
Yes, often humour designed for half-wits is misunderstood by quarter-wits

The nobel peace prize is not exactly known for its reliability in choosing exceptional or well-deserving candidates. Frankly, my response to Hitler's induction would be "Join the club."
