The program is based on the best-selling novel, "The Da Vinci Code," which claims to be partly grounded on historical fact. The book asserts that Mary Magdalene was Jesus' wife -- not a prostitute, as in some teachings -- and that she fled Jerusalem with his child following his crucifixion.

Sheesh.

I think I already posted this here

But I'm sure you will get a different angle In R&P.

Sheesh indeed. We've heard this one before.

The kids go off to become the Merovingian kings, thus providing the a character in The Matrix: Reloaded with a cool name.

This sounds like the Mystery religion tale of the daughter of a god who becomes a prostitute. Eventually the son of the god comes to the woman and marries her.

In some gnostic sects Sophia is the wife of the dying god-man, Yeshua.

Sophia means 'wisdom'.

I believe that Jesus dropped out of sight once they started pursuing him for child support following his divorce from Mary Magdalene. Mary cited abandonment as the cause of the divorce, apparently Jesus was always hanging out with his mates, going to temples, getting into fights with money changers and didn't put in the hours at home.

I think it's a lot easier to think that Jesus existed, but that a ridiculous amount of mythology grew around him. Granted, it's all anecdotal evidence, but there's a fair share of it - it seems kind of absurd to be writing about a myth about 40-70 years after the myth's death (which, if memory serves, is about the time scholars place the writing of the first three Gospels).

Granted, even if he did exist, I still don't agree with everything he said, but I think he brought up some good points (such as, don't be a hypocrite, and don't go around hurting other people).

Find the last scion. There'll be your proof.
