Jack Chick goes to Iraq!

I don't get it. is it supposed to be funny?

or is it just irony? damned if you do, damned if you don't. is that what Chick wants to get across?

I see Chick liked Mel Gibson's movie enough to rip off the flogging scene.

And do I detect a note of bitterness over the matter of theological qualifications? Did somebody point out to Chick that he has no book larnin' or something? Perhaps he's jealous because bishops get all the chicks!

What, he has a problem with the Roman Catholics?

I was about to say - it seems that cartoon depictions of Jesus' crucifixion have gotten more...erm, 'stripey' since The Passion.

"Is Max in heaven, preacher?"
"No, Benny... He died in his sins and Jesus will reject him."

Nice. This is what the fundies want military chaplains to be telling soldiers as they stand over the dead bodies of their friends?

Wait a minute -- is Chick acknowledging that there are atheists in foxholes?

You know, I'm starting to like Jack Chick's cartoons. From a Christian perspective they're fun and inspiring, once you compensate for their goofiness and certain parochialisms - although he is essentially right about Mariolatry being rank heresy.

[derail] My fondest wish is that Fred Phelps would go to Iraq.
And be buried there, as well.[/derail]

The false dichotomies get better every time...

I was just idly wondering what might happen if we posted some JC cartoons on a Hamas website...

Nah. They don't deserve that.
