'...Israel has announced plans for nearly 700 homes in mainly Arab East Jerusalem - despite Palestinian and international demands that it freeze building there.
The US and EU criticised the move, which follows plans unveiled last month for 900 homes on occupied land in Gilo, south of Jerusalem.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 and later annexed it, in a move not recognised internationally.
The Palestinians want to locate their future capital in East Jerusalem. ...'

The linked article goes on to say

'.. .The European Union said it was "dismayed" by the announcement.
"Settlements on occupied land are illegal under international law," it said. ...'

These buildings are part of the apartheid system operated by the apartheid government in Israel. They are illegal.

The apartheid regime in Israeli has demonstrated beyond all possible doubt that they are
1/ Totally contemptuous of international law
2/ Totally contemptuous of the EU
3/ Totally contemptuous of the USA
4/ Intent on increasing the apartheid system as a means to carry forward the 60 year
pogrom against the Palestinian people.
5/ Totally uninterested in peace

What sanctions do you want the international community to take against the apartheid Israeli regime?

'Arab homes planned'
However, Jerusalem municipality said plans had recently been proposed for 500 new homes intended for Arab residents in the mainly Arab area of Silwan in East Jerusalem, and to allow the legalisation of 500 existing Arab homes.
Silwan is a controversial area, where Jewish groups have been attempting to acquire land, and dozens of Arab homes are under demolition orders.
Many of the homes are built without permits, which Israeli-Arab and Palestinian residents say are very difficult for them to get.

This thread appears to be in response to the moving of this one to AAH.
That thread closed with a mod box. Since this thread appears to be starting again, let me remind you of that mod box, so that you don't let this thread go the same route.

This thread started with a threat and turned into mostly a personal squabble. I could try to move the offending post to AAH, but there would be little left. Instead, I'm dumping the whole thread. Apologies to those few who made on-topic and reasonable, non-aggressive posts.

You can try this topic again, but you can expect that if similar behavior occurs, including off-topic threats to report people, then it will be dealt with more severely than a simple move to AAH.
Replying to this modbox in thread will be off topic  Posted By: Tricky

Enforced by whom? Internationally?*

As before, this 60 year pogrom is a complete bollocks. The Israelis really need to look up how to run a pogrom. Bloody incompetents. (Unless, of course, it isn't one).

I, for one will boycott all pork, ham, and bacon produced in, and exported from, Israel. I have similarly boycotted Saudi Arabian wine for years.

Who is with me?

*=For pun watchers, substitute "German" and "Germany" for International and Internationally, and let me know how that worked.

You and Israel have something in common. What should the international community do with you?

Aw, come on! Can't we nuke them? We haven't nuked anybody in 60 years! Isn't it about time we got to do it again?

Nuke, nuke, who should we nuke. Isn't there someone in Africa who won't stop fighting, being genocidal and all that we could do away with? Has there every been a nuclear device exploded in South America or Africa, hey, what about Antarctica?

But wouldn't a nuclear winter in the antarctic be fun?
If you are snow blind, I suppose the answer is yes.

As to nuclear winter, take a gander at this:

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=local-nuclear-war

The full text I have in the paper version at home, not sure how soon the electric version will be available without a subscription. The conclusion of the authors is that a fifty and fifty exchange between Pakistan and India would induce nuclear winter, and do significant damage to the ozone layer.
