Is this a valid political question?

When evaluating political candidates, there are a number of things one wants to know about that person. His or her political philosophy, for instance, their ethical integrity, for another.

Those are all obvious and straight forward. Further down on the list there are certain things that are less pertinent to the political picture of a particular candidate, but do give us insight into the mental and emotional background of a particular candidate.

These things would include life experiences and lifestyle issues. For instance, for a long time, military experience was a must in politics. The importance of this has declined proportionally as the opportunities for Americans to aquie military experience has also declined. Some look for experience in the business world. Others, might consider experience in community activism to be important.

Whether a candidate is married or if married more than once can also provide important insight into a personality.

Let’s look at Christine O’Donnell.

She is not married.

She is against pre marital sex.

She is against masturbation.

Therefore, are the following valid questions to consider when evaluating her fitness to be a representative political leader?

Is she a virgin?

Has she ever had an orgasm?

Personally, no I do not find her personal sexual behavior or experience to be of consequence unless illegal or out of control enough to distract from doing her jobs. Neither of which seem to be the case. Her stance on sexual issues are certainly informative to if I think she would be a decent legislator, but not her actual sexual history.

While I might find the answers interesting they really should have no bearing on evaluating a candidate.

Would the following questions be valid of other candidates:
When did you lose your virginity?
How many sex partners have you had? Ever play for the other team? Including band camp.
How often do you masturbate?

More accurately she is a "Do as I say, not as I did" Christian. If she were still acting out against her current morals then I would call her on the hypocrisy. She claims she regrets those decisions and taken at face value that is not hypocritical. Now I greatly disagree with her stance. I find the lifestyle she is promoting to be unhealthy and impractical. She is ridiculous in my mind but unelss she has a lover on the side or pleasures herself she isn't being hypocritical.

I would agree if the candidate doesn't make those things an issue. But when someone starts preaching that others shouldn't be doing those things and then you find out that the candidate has been doing them, then questions like that become relevant.

I'm reminded of when Gingrich's ex-wife said that he told her it doesn't matter how he lives his life, it's his message that's important. That's BS. If his message isn't good enough for him to follow, then why in the world should anyone listen to him?

Yes. Because a positive response to either would be evidence of hypocrisy.

Here's a valid new political talking point for the right wing: Just say NO to the little man in the boat.

I wouldn't ask the question. Not because it's unfair. I guess there are two reasons. One - even though knowing whether she's a virgin might help me know whether she's a hypocrite, knowing whether she's a hypocrite means almost nothing to me, and certainly not enough to make me ask whether she's a virgin. Two - I feel so strongly that the question shouldn't be relevant that, even though she's made it relevant, I'd rather just pretend she didn't.

So, if what she's saying is true, she hasn't had sex or masturbated in 20 years. I suppose she could have had some "lapses" and then asked for forgiveness.
Personally, everything I have read about her just makes her seem very strange and creepy.
