He claims he will on his official website:
It is my sincere intent to make $1,000,000.00 off of James Randi and his foundation.

On the other hand:
I am asking those who read this site to remember I am an entertainer, artist & researcher.

Please do not get carried away when viewing and interacting with my work. It is to be an entertaining, surreal diversion.

I am not a psychic nor a medium. I am a Paranormalist.
You are in control of what you believe and do with your life.
Just as I am.
Have fun and enjoy yourselves........Jim

so is he or is he not, claiming to have paranormal abilities? I am confused...

Think of him as a politician. He is claiming to have paranormal ability without using so many words because he knows such things don't exist. He's catering to a gullible audience of believers.

I'm confused, how does one pay a dead person $1M? Does it go to the person's estate or relatives?

James Callaghan, deceased ex-Prime Minister is applying for the MDC? Kewl! Sylvia handling protocol negotiations by any chance?

Ah, it's that JC. Different spelling, different version of reality.

So was he upset about Criss "ruining" his show or was he upset because Criss called him a fraud?
Or maybe that was all part of his act?

He's upset because skeptics denounce the paranormal. He is there to "defend" the american right to believe in all things woo.

Since he thinks he can win, it makes him a defacto believer in paranormal stuff since it is a paranormal test....soooooooo, I am sure he will try to put so many conditions on protocol, that it will go into a perpetual motion of accusations..etc. He will weasel out of it.

No, he doesn't think he can win, that's why he's made up his own rules for the JREF challenge. It's like saying "I don't like the fact that you won't let me cheat, so I'll say your rules are bunk and substitute my own rules where I CAN cheat."

I saw his rant after Criss Angel called him out on his BS. He was going on and on about how people have the right to believe what they want to believe. I agree to a certain extent. But, I am also saddened by the vast majority of people that have made their way over to the paranormal side and have ignored scientifice/rational explanations. Most people out there know more about the paranormal than they do about science. Wow, I can't wait to see what this world looks like in 30 years. Maybe we should just do away with science and all bellieve in the paranormal!

People have the right to believe in nonsense, but that doesn't mean it's right.

In case there is any doubt that he claims to be real look at;

Q: I saw a magician who says he can do your tricks.
Not a question but a remark that begs a reply.

A: If he could do what I do he would not be a magician. Often I have found (and I am sure you have noticed the same) that magicians like to copy or fake the performances of psychics as a way of proving the validity of their own ability. Kind of like a child begging for attention.
And if calling regular magicians/mentalist children is not enough look at the next one.
Q: Are you implying what you do is real? Or that you are a psychic?
A: Of course it is. I provide an experience for people, a very real experience. I would also offer that I create a favorable environment in which such an experience can take place.
I am not a psychic I have made this point several times. I am a Paranormalist.

It's just a schtick, one that's neither Derren Brown nor Uri Geller, but instead flirting with Geller-dom but in such a way that it's obvious he's just a mentalist (and knows it) to all but the terminally gullible or the willingly suspending of disbelief. Still doesn't make it right though.

It's worth pointing out that his avatar and sig at the Magic Cafe forums have the letters "H.O.A.-X." on them.
