Watched most of a new Discovery entry last night; Is It Real?. Has a fellow apparently investigating primarily internet/YouTube items.
This episode dealt with the "skunk ape" sightings in Florida, and also the "one-wing landing" video that's gotten a lot of airplay.

Not badly done; they did put the skunk-ape video guy on a polygraph (he flunked) and subjected some of the hair supposedly found from the critter to examination (but not DNA tests). Conclusion...Likely fake.

They pretty well tore up the one-wing landing, showing that the film was spliced together with RC aircraft footage, and demonstrating a one-wing landing with an RC aircraft.

Has promise, at any rate.

If it's the show Is It Real? presented by William B. Davis, then it's hardly new.

Whoops. Mixed it up with Critical Eye. Elementary mistake.

Whoa, how could somebody expect to win a contest with so many scale points lost?

Must be talking about this show
Is It True? Skunk Ape and One-Wing Landings

The one winged flying wonder.

The show is Is It True? Can a mod please fix the thread title and we'll carry on?

Dave Shealy has long been considered a hoaxer. I'm surprised he agreed to take the polygraph. Wait, no I'm not. It's Dave Shealy. He'll take whatever hype he can get.

I apologize for cleverly inverting the title with that of the National Geographic show. (which is pretty decent)

Hello...

The name of the show is "Is It Real?"

I know this because I was on it.

We were on the episode about "Ghosts", this first half of the show featured people chasing "orbs" around haunted locations and psychics "talking" with ghosts, etc..

We were on the second half of the show explaining how "Orbs" are not ghosts, that there has never been a credible image that we could call a ghost and we even went as far as to debunk the infamous Puckett's Junkyard Ghost video.

This is a show that we were proud to be featured on due to the fact that we shared the skeptical side of the show with James Randi.

Even though the show did have a lot of woo, it did offer a good skeptical viewpoint as well.

Yeah, I was confused since Is It Real? has had Randi on it and does a pretty sound job of debunking (although it spends the first forty minutes teasing before dropping the hammer).

Nope, it's, "Is it Real?".

For me, it shows up as Is It True on the cable guide the day it's on, but it's listed as Is It Real if I do a search on a day it's not on. Damn Comcast....

edit: Oh, so there are two different shows? I guess Comcast has them confused.

The one is a fairly long-standing National Geographic series. The other is a brand-new Discovery offering; so much so that they don't even have it featured on the official website yet.

National Geographic's "Is it Real?"

ETA, here is a RC plane that loses it's wing in flight, continues to fly, then lands.

That's fascinating.

But it's clear now there are 2 different shows. I was about to post the TV guide evidence and declare absolute knowledge. At the last minute I softened my declaration with a more reasonable, "are we talking about the same show?" Now I'm glad I did. ;)
