THIS IS A NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC.

This is a notice to the public that I intend to challenge for the one million dollar prize offered by the Randi challenge.

I think your best route would be to fill out the application and submit it to the JREF, if you haven't done it already. Whether or not it qualifies as it's not an "ability" is up to them.

I've heard mentioned on here, or on SC that there are other societies that offer smaller prizes for other paranormal things, so if the JREF rejects you, you might be able to make a claim with the other ones.

you need to fill out and application, randi doesn't visit here too often.

Good Luck! keep us updated.

Should be a cinch. A bunch of claims that are easily testable:

-THIS ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE KILL INSECTS INSTANTLY INSIDE THIS 3/4 INCH BEAM WHEN THIS RADIATION BEAM
IS INTENSIFIED.

-THIS ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE MELTS GLASS WITH NO HEAT. THE GLASS NEVER HEATS UP DURING THE COURSE OF MELTING.

-THE NON-IONIZING RADIATION EMITTED FROM THE ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE CAN KILL ANY AND ALL CELL STRUCTURES AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 MINUTES OF CONSTANT CONTACT EXPOSURE.

-THIS ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE SETS OFF ALARMS AND TIMERS TIED TO HEAT SOURCES AND HEAT DETECTION DEVICES.

Here are my favorites:

-THIS ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE STOPS ICE MELTING AT ROOM TEMPERATURE OR ANY TEMPERATURE ABOVE OR BELOW 32 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

The alien rock will stop ice melting at temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit? Amazing!

-THE NON-IONIZING RADIATION EMITTED OFF THE ALIEN ROCK GEMSTONE CAUSES GLASS TO BECOME VERY BRITTLE.

As opposed to the usual pliable state of glass.

Is the JREF going to have to the standard $5 fee for a peek at the alien rock?

Would it be crass to predict the application will never be completed?

Will my prediction count for the prize?

I think, when he sobers up tomorrow, he will revisit this decision.

Here's a couple of tips: take time to spell out what paranormal, occult or supernatural ability or event will be tested, and how you propose to test it. The JREF reportedly spends considerable time trying to get claimants to specify what they claim will happen and under what conditions.

In other words, don't expect the JREF to tell you what to do. You tell the JREF what you can do and how you can demonstrate it.

Here's a second tip, related to the first: you have the burden of proof. It is not up to the JREF to show that you are wrong. You have to show that you are right.

As I have said on this forum (and as Penn Jillette has said, on his Showtime program), if I had an ability that qualified for the award, I'd be first in line to do the test AND I would have no trouble whatsoever meeting the requirement of specifying what I can do and under what conditions. This is not a tough thing to do.

A third tip: don't engage in posturing or excuse-making before any test. Talk is cheap. Rather, go right out there, low-key, and set up a testing protocol that's fair. Then prove your claim according to the agreed-upon protocol. Then, once you have the the JREF's million bucks in your pocket, brag loudly about it, do the talk show circuit, and rub Randi's nose in it!!

Brown’s advice is very good. I strongly recommend that you read the rules carefully.

I’ve visited your site and it seems to me that you have many claims that would be quite easy to test and would certainly qualify as paranormal.

Your first step is to fill out and send in an application but be very clear to explain exactly what you intend to demonstrate.

Good luck and I hope you’ll keep us posted as there are many here who would like know how things progress.

Also, DALTON, a lot of people in the forum would be willing to help you with the design, should you so desire.

But your first goal should be to submit the application. Again, I think a lot of people (at least, I would be) would be willing to help you if you would like.

Perhaps, DALTON, you should make a trial of the test procedures first - to save you embarrassment later!

I would say that JREF can serve a function here... if the applicant can be clear on what they are able to do, but aren't sure how to properly test it, isn't JREF willing to design and propose a test protocol?

If not, there are a bunch of us here at the forum that would enjoy making suggestions.
