Infrasound, Qigong and Humans

While far from what many would consider a qigong master, I have been practicing Xingyiquan for quite a while and have been practicing qigong for over ten years.

What type of instrument(s) would be needed to measure this infrasound?

I've been doing, guess, taijiquan since 97. We could combine our qi powers!

MuHAhahahaHAHAH!

Heck yeah! Wonder-qi powers activate!

Do you study Chen, wu(hou), wu, yang, sun, or Chang?

Hi GS, I study the 37 posture form, the Cheng sword form, and also know the 24 posture form, and am attempting to learn some Chen but am having a hard time with the low low stances. :)

How about yourself?

I have been training and teaching for 30 years. Ryukyu Kempo (Dillman Method of pressure point fighting, Certified Instructor) - 11 yrs, Tae Kwon Do - 15 yrs, Tang Soo Do - 15 years, Xingyiquan 8 years.

I have trained in many different types of qigong. Some very dangerous to myself other ver beneficial.

Oh yes, and I have trained Iron Palm for the last eight years as well. I can crack a coconut with a slap. Maybe I'll post a clip.

I really wish someone would help with what kind of equipment could measure the infrasonic waves.

Nice to meet another internal martial artist here.

P.S.
There is an exersize that Tim CartmellShenWu has his students do that is very good for the low stances (Tim rocks)

GroundStrengh,

goggle on the phrase measuring infrasound. The first link is highly relevant, as are many of the others.

You're just measuring sound. However, most audio gear is made to measure sound w/in human hearing, not outside of it, so you can't run to Radio Shack and buy a microphone.

It's not trivial because things like weather, earthquakes, explosions, sonic booms, etc, create infrasound. You need to control for that for your measurements to mean anything.

Hi GroundStrength,

You have (and are) studied very interesting martial arts! I don't know much about Ryukyu Kempo specifically. I'll have to look it up sometime.

Thanks for the link to the exercise. :)

CNN.com has an article about some scientists in the UK performing exparaments.

The article claims elephants use infrasound as self defense...hmmm.

I posted this link in paranormal as well.

Ren Guang Yi - a Chen Tai Chi stylist based in New York - has some good videos showing the reeling silk exercises that can develop the low stances. Combine that with one of Andersons stretching books and you should be okay.
My Chen Xioa Wang videos are out on loan but I recall his silk reeling tape as being as good.

Could you elaborate the danger you had been through with QiGong?
