While I have not looked up all the facts and details to let me say whether the article was right or wrong about this thing or that thing, I did find it interesting.
And to a skeptic, it does hold out a certain amount of hope ...
Perhaps we need to follow the agricultural model even more closely than suggested by the article. An NIH extension agent in each county of the US could do a lot to improve health care. Not by being an expert on medicine, but by knowing who the local and national experts are on any specific subject.
