http://www20.sbs.com.au/speakingintongues/

John had a guest, Solreta Antaria, who spoke to the camera a universal language, which she claims can only be understood by other star kiddies, or psychic types.

She spoke directly at the camera, a range of soothing sounds, in the hope that all the Indigo Children watching would understand and perhaps respond.

Whether anybody did is unknown, but does anybody have any insight into this phenomenon?

It sounds interesting.

But, I have to say, it also sounds crap.

Any thoughts?

Well! And we all know that children never, ever make up silly fake languages. So it certainly isn't that.

Heh, she was an adult. Physically, anyway. Langauge sounded kinds melodious - a bit arabic, bit polynesian, lots of Ls.

Anyone else heard of these "indigo children"? She said they were predicted by Edgar Cayce, iirc.

Thanks geni. Now I'm depressed. I had hoped she was kind of a one off loon.

Could'nt help meself.From the website.....

What is Critical Thinking? One definition I like is this - "(It is) The art of thinking about your thinking while you are thinking in order to make your thinking better: more clear, more accurate, or more defensible." An Educator's Guide to Critical Thinking Terms and Concepts: Glossary Which would make it Meta-thinking. It is method of employing the logical, rational, left side of the brain, which when combined with the intuitive, creative, right side of the brain, enables one to empower their brains fully and behave "gifted".

Or is this Critical Thinking*tm ?

The definition ("The art of thinking about your thinking while you are thinking in order to make your thinking better: more clear, more accurate, or more defensible") is accurate. Critical thinking is using logic, empirical knowledge, and common sense to analyze and assess your thinking processes in order to find flaws/faults/fallacies. Critical thinking really is thinking about your thinking, while you are thinking, in order to make it more consistent and logical.

I remember when I was young (maybe six or so), I had a language that I called "Space Talk". It was just gibberish. But I thought that it was the language of "all intelligent beings in the universe", which, if spoken, could be both heard and understood by those same intelligent beings.
For some reason I didn't rank human beings as a part of this fellowship. (No, not even myself, while I could speak the language, I couldn't hear or even understand it).
Yes, I really believed this. My siblings found it very funny, especially when they would ask me what specific "words" meant. Then they'd make fun of me later when they heard those words - "You just said TV toast!".
My viewpoint was simply that the sounds didn't mean anything specific except when connected to the thoughts of the speaker -a sound could mean anything depending on how the word was said. They just didn't understand this!
I remember a few times feeling frustrated and going outside at night and looking up at the stars and using "Space Talk".
The interesting part is how real it seemed to me.

Of course, I grew out of it within a year or two. It looks like some people are still trying to use "Space Talk".

:D When I high school, I and my best friend used to sometimes sit in the cafeteria and talk gibberish to each other. It sounded vaguly Russian/German/Slavic and we'd accompany it with lots of hand and facial gestures. People thought we were speaking some foriegn language.

I had the chance to use this made up language later in life when I was living in Greece during my junior year in college. Being tall, blonde, blue-eyed and American, I was forever getting hit on when in downtown Athens. I got so tired of it. One time, when a guy came up to me and said "Do you speak English?" I assumed a confused look and replied in my gibberish language. The guy then went through French, German, and Spanish trying to figure out what language I was speaking. I just kept shaking my head, looking confused, and babbling. He eventually gave up and wandered off with a confused look on his face. :D

Wot about the "behave gifted"bit?
I got no clue. :D I purposely left that out of the definition I quoted; I thought it wasn't a part of it for some reason... That left brain-right brain stuff sounds really off, but the first part was right.

I'm sorry. I've been suffering from insomnia the past couple days, so me brainmeats is all slow.

Yeah, I had a gibberish language in high school, too. :)

I should get on TV and speak it, and see what happens.

Oh. So that was you?

Anyone read Neal Stephenson's "Snowcrash"? The speaking in tongues thing is given an interesting treatment.

All I can say on the whole question of speaking in tongues is "Kjhlaisfh-u980-95- lalolooololoaaaallalalaoo7.,mbn lKhpoiud'kljfsdjghjkdjrbnglknl;gkgjkh;l!"
