The following is a letter published in our local paper this morning:



At first I though nut case, now I see not just any nut case.

Mainstream medicine is No. 1 killer in U.S.
The AP article Monday on the potential risks of
alternative medicine tells such a one-sided story that it appears to be a "hit" piece from the competition: allopathic medicine. In your attempt to frighten people with vague criticisms of alternative medicine, you fail completely to mention that conventional, allopathic medical care is the No. 1 killer of Americans by far. We are often told that heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes are our top four killers. That is a deliberate distortion: They are our top four disease killers. By numbers gathered from mainstream medical journals and government databases, Carolyn Dean and Gary Null showed in a carefully researched article ("Death by Medicine") that our medical system kills more than 784,000 Americans annually. This number is not vague, nor is it speculation about possible consequences; this number represents actual deaths that have occurred, without question, and have been tabulated and published.
Vioxx alone killed an estimated 144,000 people and caused injury to millions. Gardasil has killed at least 33 young women and permanently injured thousands more.
Unless you wish to be seen to be blatant propagandists for allopathic medicine, you should present the complete picture, not just press releases from pharmaceutical companies.

As the "number is not vague, nor is it speculation", the author will be able to furnish details; request them :)

But don't hold your breath... those non-vague numbers include at least one group of "an estimated 144,000 people", which sounds grossly speculative
 
I sent in a letter last night, it is really hard keeping to the 200 word limit, my first attempt was about 300 words and by the time I paired it down to 200 it lost a lot of meaning. So I restructured. If it gets printed I'll post it, however I do not expect it will. If anyone else wants to take a shot please do. They really need to know that not everyone accepts this guys claims.

It does make you wonder about the coffee in the pots at those clinics, I just cannot imagine that they would toss out the coffee just because it had been up a rectum of two.
