I'm Not Voting Tomorrow, And Here's Why

I'm not voting tomorrow...because I can't, it isn't my country.

TAM:D

I won't be voting tomorrow because I voted today.

Yep-I spent all day yesterday and today flying over to the US, becoming a citizen, doing whatever else I needed to and rounding it off by voting for someone who I was told had a nice ass.

Yep-that's how I decide where my vote goes.

:D

I'm not voting tomorrow because in Oregon, everyone votes by mail. So no need to request an absentee ballot, we have one of the highest rates of participation, no stupid controversies over long lines, Teatards or NBP-tards standing around voting booths, Diebold machines, hanging chads, butterfly ballots, and it doesn't matter what the weather is or if you get time off since the nice mail man picks it up from your house.

Remind me again why every state doesn't do this?

Folks who live in Representative Democracies and do NOT vote, have no right to complain.

That said, I congratulate you all in putting cynicism aside for a day, and doing your civic duty.

"We have one of the highest rates of participation" - how is that in a politician's best interest?

I'm not voting tomorrow since I voted 2 weeks ago.

Careful about voting tooo early. We had a drop out in the last week a couple years ago. Now I vote by mail only a couple days early.

What if there is no one you feel comfortable voting for? Should you vote for someone you don't agree with just so you can complain?

"If you don't vote you can't complain" is one of the stupidest things you hear this time of year. It's right up there with anything you hear after the words, "If I am elected, I promise to..."

I am not voting tomorrow because I already voted.

Tomorrow I will be rounding up procrastinator's and dragging them to the polls.

Yes, if you cannot make a rational decision about which of the two candidates is better than the other, you have no right to complain.

Who is worse, Stalin or Hitler? Glen Beck or Sean Hannity? Sarah Palin or Christine O'Donnell?

Ok, I'm being tongue in cheek, here, but come on, it's a choice. Choose the one who's better, not the one who's perfect.

I don't want to vote for the one who's better. You may be mocking me, but your Stalin/Hitler comparison is spot on. As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats are Stalin and the Republicans are Hitler. (Feel free to reverse this if it offends your particular sensibilities, the Dems can be Hitler if you prefer:))

Regardless of what the party you follow has said, they don't care one whit for you and yours, other than you represent one of the votes that will allow them to keep their current lifestyle afloat. If you can vote for a certain candidate and still sleep at night, then I'm glad for you. You have more confidence in these people than I do. I'm cool with that. That's you, but it's not me.

**** 'em all, I say. I'm sick to death of it. And, I'm going to continue to complain, whether you think I have the right or not. :D

What if the rational decision is that both are equally bad? Is flipping a coin just for the sake of voting something that should be done?

That's never the case. In reality, one person is always worse than the other. One person will always vote differently than another, or put one more hold on vital legislation or a vital appointee (or if you prefer, one fewer hold).

Can you name me two politicians from different parties who vote exactly the same in every instance? A single example?

It's not that I have confidence in either one, it's that I have more confidence, based on what they profess to believe in, than the other. Case in point: not a single Republican running for the Senate believes in global warming. Not one. With the Democrats, I know that the candidate at least acknowledges the problem. If you agree with the GOP that's all a big conspiracy, then how can you allow a Democrat in office? If you think there's a problem, how can you allow a denier to gum up the works of real solutions? Don't you have an opinion on this subject? Now, with that in mind, how can you say there's no difference?

There was a difference between Stalin and Hitler, too. I think one of them really hated Jews and the other one had a hat...I forget which was which.

What they profess to believe in and what they do are two entirely different things. What happened to Obama's promise to allow the importing of prescription drugs to keep medical costs down? Or his idea to televise the debates about health care? His comprehensive immigration policy? These are all good ideas that helped him get elected, but they got scrapped. They weren't held up by partisan politics, they were just abandoned or politicized into non-existence.

Politicians from both sides of the aisle have too long a track record of doing things like this for me to trust them anymore.

Sorry. You'll just have to pretend to be a Democracy without me. :p
