This is a campaign to register fans of professional wrestling. I understand that they want to give it a wrestling-themed title, but using 'smackdown' just doesn't seem right to me.
From Speaking Spy-ese:
Put the Smack Down (Verb): To destroy in a decisive fashion, or to put a stop to a practice considered unfavorable. "They're not crediting the news source? Someone go over there and put the smack down."
From Teen Lingo:
put the smack down
1. v. To take an action of enforcement. To punish or hurt. "Man, if you don't stop buggin I'm going to put the smack down!"
From The Online Slang Dictionary:
put the smack down v 1. to regulate, often by force. ("The party started to get out of hand, so we had to put the smack down.")
So what other names could they have used that may be more appropriate? Piledrive Your Vote? Suplex Your Vote? Or how about 'Lets Get Ready for Suffraaaaaaaage!' :D

Also, do you think more Democrats or Republicans among pro wrestling fans?

I'm still trying to get over the new Burger King slogan:
"Get ready for a mouth-whipping!"

....I wonder if it's just me...but a "mouth-whipping" is just not very appealing.

Wow. This is so horribly pathetic. This is even worse than "rock the vote." This kind of thing always reminds me of those times when you were a kid hanging out with your friends and your parents would try to use whatever pop-culture lingo they'd overheard to try and 'relate' to you or whatever the hell they were attempting.

"Hey kids! Cast your vote! It's way too, totally awsome and far out hommies!"

Not only that, it's bloody patronizing.
