A distillery manager has told of his amazement after learning that US spies hunting weapons of mass destruction had been monitoring his whisky plant.

Bruichladdich Distillery on the island of Islay was contacted by the Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), after an agent clicked on to the distillery's website.

The woman revealed the organisation's interest in the whisky plant after alerting the distillery to the fact that one of its webcams was faulty.

US spies monitor whisky plant

Will someone please tell the DTRA that it's haggis which the Scots are planning to use as a WMD, not whisky?

Oh, I dunno. SOME Scotch whiskey is pretty dangerous to human beings...

Man, if I've even read anecdotal evidence that the US feds have too much time and money on their hands I've just read it.

Just a moment while I turn my web camera off. . . (apparently you just never know anymore).

[nitpick]

The Scotch make whisky, sans e.

Whiskey is a substandard Irish or American concoction.

Your tax dollars at work.

If the Al Qaeda (sp) wanted to make the U.S. perpetually act like a bunch of morons, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

Yeah. If OBL hears all this, perhaps he´ll die of a laughing fit.

Spooks have to relax too! What better way to relax than to watch people 4000 miles away working hard to produce your favourite tipple?

What is worrying is that officials at an intelligence agency didn't have the intelligence to cover their tracks when sending a message that a webcam had broken.

Just can't get the staff these days I suppose.
