My laptop has IE 7, AOL, and Netscape 8.13 installed.
IE has decided it cannot connect via either the wireless network or when plugged into the router. AOL and netscape have no problems.
Even with all firewalls turned off, it "cannot make HTTP or FTP connection--check your firewall".
Anybody else have this problem? OS is Windoze XP home, Toshiba running 2.5Gb memory. No other computers on the network have this problem.

Firefox.

the problem is that several websites I need, and which my wife uses, will work only with IE (or will they? I have not tried Firefox)
Is this a company issue PC? My employer has special connection protocols on my company issue laptop and certain internal websites are only accessible with IE.

Any other public websites should have complete compatibility with Firefox. This includes banking and other secure connections.

There is a Mozilla plug-in that will cause FireFox to look like IE to the web server. I'll see if I can find it.

Strongly recommend Firefox. Can't wait for 3.0 release (although I'm using the beta right now, and it's quite functional).

As to the OP, two constructive things to try: Uninstall IE7 and reinstall it (from add/remove programs)
disable your av and firewall temporarily and see if IE suddenly starts to work. If it does, you're blocking in and need to fix your firewall rules.
