Notice how it is NOT news that there in clear water north of there for the ice shelf to float into? Apparently it is not unheard of that north pole ice melts off. Even the ice shelf is only 3,00 years old, so we do know that it was warmer then than now, without any AGW.
Hmm, does the north pole ice sheet sublimate, so it could dissapear even in cold times? Then the lack of north pole ice would have nothing to do with global warming, would it? It's only 2-3 meters thick, not hundreds like glaciers that calf icebergs.

The problem is not that it occaisionally gets warmer in some areas; the problem is sustained and widespread warmth. One swallow doesn't mean a summer, but the summer usually means a lot of swallows.....
This is is just one more piece of evidence among many -- you still haven't explained why the disappearance of permafrast that has been around since the Plioscene isn't a sign of recent warming -- and one more nail in the coffin of the AGW deniers.
My understanding is that the north pole doesn't get a lot of snow, and therefore doesn't get a lot of glacial ice forming. Seacap ice is quite a good insulator, so water under it doesn't freeze especially well and it doesn't get that thick.
