I will kill this mouse if I have to...

My cursor jumps to the right enough to drive me crazy. I have cleaned the insides and tested the jack and all seem to be okay. The mouse is about three years old.

Do I need a new mouse? Could I have a virus? I have swept and de-bugged several times so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Help please!

Well, the whole US jumped to the right, I don't think that a tiny mouse can do much more to drive you crazy.

Indeed. And problems with your balls make you jump to the right.

My optical started doing that. I actually tried cleaning the bottom with windex. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the cord right where it enters the mouse. I was too cheap to buy a new one so I just opened it up, cut out two inches of the cord, and resoldered it. Worked like a champ.

Try a high fibre diet, and change the water regularly.

I agree with the new mouse option. They're cheap enough that it just isn't worth the time to clean them, fix them, solder them, whatever. I got my cordless optical mouse (with recharger base station) for £3.99. If it only lasts another six months, that'll be three years. I can live with £3.99 ($7.40) every three years, and it shows no signs of dying yet. I even have a spare optical usb mouse for those rare times when the batteries run low and I don't have any spare batteries.

Cheers,
Rat.

Don't you hate it when the cursor stops about 3mm from the button and no amount of rolling the mouse will shift it?
Why does it always lock up just before it gets where it has to be?

I have now purchased an optical mouse and have turfed the old one. It seems to be okay so thanks to all for your advice!
