I inherited a IMac from my predecessor. When I use Excel, I have to manually sum formulas in all my spread sheets. That means I have to find each and every cell that has a formula in it, click on it, click at the end of the formula in the formula box and then hit enter. Is it a bug, or is there setting that I don't know about that is doing this. It's not a protection issue, I don't think.

It's driving me batty. Help me.

It sounds like you are in manual calc mode. Depending on which version of Excel you are running, click Tools-Options-Calculation and make sure Automatic is selected.

Great, that sounds promising. I'm heading into the office now so I'll let you know. Thanks!

On my Mac, it's under Excel->Preferences->Calculation

(and for some reason, it resets to manual and I have to reset it now and then)

When you're in manual mode you should also be able to calculate everything in a file by saving it (but that is also a preference setting), and you can update all calculations in a sheet by hitting (Cmd+=). [Cmd is that apple-splat thingy.]

That did it, Mommyrex! Muchas Gracias. I think it did reset on me, because I had been here about a month before I noticed it. I've been living with it for a while because when I encountered it I always felt it would be faster just to play along than dig around for an answer.

I should have polled you guys weeks ago.

Thanks!
