I am a skeptic. That’s why I’m here.

I am a daughter, sister, aunt, grandaunt, surrogate mom.

I am a friend and a friend of friends.

I could stand to lose some weight. I could stand to exercise more.

I am a lifelong Democrat and have only voted for two Republicans in my life. I plan to vote for Obama this year.

I am the daughter of a deli man who was also an artist. I am the daughter of a bridge player who is ninety years old.

I am a librarian, a manager, and a song indexer.

I am a Carrollian, having studied Lewis Carroll since my early teens. I can recite “Jabberwocky” at the drop of a hat.

I don’t wear hats unless it’s very cold out. I don’t look good in hats. I look good in dark colors and v neck tops.

I am a second generation American.

I have traveled to Canada, England, and Jamaica. I’ve been to California, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota, and Delaware.

I’m a little vain about my hands and feet. I’m not at all vain about other parts of me.

I proudly drive a 1996 Saturn and defy anyone to take it from me.

I shall drink no wine before its time. In fact, I shall drink no wine because I don’t drink alcohol. It makes me really sick. I don’t smoke or do drugs either. However, I am absolutely helpless around a piece of really good chocolate.

I love birds of all types, especially budgies. However my budgie does not love me.

I work in the city and live in the suburbs.

I have a hard time remembering people’s birthdays, which can get really embarrassing.

I’m allergic to dust mites, tree mold, and sulfa. I have a condition that makes it very hard for me to tolerate many drugs including antibiotics.

My favorite charity is the Mark Luchinsky Memorial Lecture fund at Schreyers College, Penn State University.

Some of my best conversations have been with people under the age of six years old. One of my favorite things is holding a baby. I don’t even mind changing diapers.

I’m a little too stubborn sometimes, and liable to worry way too much about unimportant things. I’m also a little shy in large groups.

I’m a Jew.

So, when those of you who talk about Jews as a monolith, a single entity, do so, please bear in mind the above list of attributes. It won’t change your mind, but it would make me feel better.

I thought this was going to be in the style of those recent Orange phone ads: 'I am what I am because of everyone'.

This is nomination material, but I can't feel that it is entirely justified. Do people here talk about Jews as a single, monlithic entity anymore than -say- conservatives talk about liberals and liberals talk about conservatives?
 
But, but, you can't be a Real Jew because all the Jews I have ever known had a good sense of humo(u)r and it's not in your list. :D

Yes, there are people on these forums who do indeed talk about Jews as a monolith. I am addressing them. They aren't listening, but I don't really care.
 
Just reading about politics in Israel for 5 minutes will show how the Jews do not operate as a monolith.
 
Please don't feel you have to go into witness protection because I say this--I like your writing very much.
