I vould like to assemble a bunch of skeptical essays suitable for courses on Critical Thinking that are more user friendly than Shermer's book for undergrads or for HS students.
What do you think?

I think it's an EXCELLENT idea. Skeptical Thinking should be part of every child's curriculum. Of course, it will be opposed by those who think it's all a Commie Plot to overthrow Our Way Of Life As We Know And Love It Today Amen.

you mean it isn't?

Skeptic Magazine publishes many interesting articles suitable for students. I don't know if you follow the magazine on a regular basis I have took down --in the form of notes) articles I have found interesting and useful for issues I wasn't really aware of.I can send you some if you wish. Recently I found out that Skeptic re-published the issue about pseudo-history. It's a great issue that includes many short but informatory articles on this subject.

I don't know what you have in mind but I believe some of the threads here are of great educational value for the students. I am in the position to judge the articles about History and Archaeology and I believe that a couple of posts Joshua posted here can be transformed into introductory articles. The way he debunks the issue of Atlantis is a good example of critical thinking. Have a look here. I am sure that this can be turned into an article easily.

It's a good initiative for some posters to work on some subjects that students can profit as well . :)

Oh I forgot! Maybe Skeptic Report has articles that can be used for this cause.

Don't be so modest, demand that he publish them! :D Seriously, I thought that what they lacked in presentation they made up for with clarity and accessibility. Good pieces.

I need all the help I can get. Thanks to you all.
The introductory chapter might be:
"Why Critical Thinking Can Help Us Survive"
Data on how people were killed by alterative medicine.
Some Darwin Awards.
Psychotherapy that didn't work.
Raving loonies that changed the world, or made a lot of money.
Current strange thoughts.
Old strange practices that didn't even work back then.

I was reading some SF where the authors collaborated over the web to produce a sort of Gestalt, where the total is somehow more than the sum of its parts, and it occurred to me that there is a huge potential for that here on this forum. Different people have access to data about these various strange things. Let's try to combine them.
If we get something that seems to work, all royalties go to JREF, if he helps us to publish it...

I don't believe you.
Right you are, yobo! 'Twas "soloititing" in the original. Nod, nod, wink, wink.
