I've heard it said that in the UK we can be on the receiving end of the identfiable remnants of hurricanes from the Gulf of Mexico, but when I've tried to look up weather systems on t'internet they're shown either as old hurricanes leaving the vicinity of N. America or as systems arriving from the West coming towards Europe. This is obviously because N. Americans are only interested until systems disappear eastwards and European public weather forecasts just take the arrival of systems from the West for granted and their job is to tell us what happens next, not what happened previously. So, there is a discontinuity in the information I have been able to find.
Can someone close the gap between the American and European sources of information and say how often a properly organised hurricane remnant is responsible for our weather in the UK?
