NASA announced today that September 10, 2008 is the target date for the launch of the fifth and final space shuttle servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. During the 11-day flight, Atlantis' seven astronauts will repair and improve the observatory's capabilities through 2013.

I saw this reported at TPS and on Space.com, and I'm not sure if it's exactly news since it first hit the wires back in January -- but I'll take it. :)

Yep! It's news to me! Last I heard, I thought they had already cut off the Hubble from being serviced/repaired again.

Good news :)

Some of the most breath taking pictures of the Universe have come from the Hubble (IMHO). Glad to see it won't be going away too soon.

I'm sure I've read what is set to replace the Hubble, but it excapes me at the moment.

Anyway, glad it will be around a while longer :)
